Senior Vice President
Matt has over 22 years of healthcare experience, working closely with physicians, short-stay surgical facilities, and hospital systems. Prior to his current role, he served as VP Financial Operations for seven years at USPI. For the two years prior to that, he led a very large independent orthopedic group practice in the southeast. He also served six years on two national industry boards. Matt received his BBA from Texas A&M University. Matt, his wife Melissa, and their three children live in the Dallas area.
Vice President of Service Line Innovation
Jeannie is a Registered Nurse with an MBA and holds over 20 years of clinical, operational, and development experience in the ASC environment. Jeannie has been with USPI for 10 years and is a member of the Service Line Strategy Group team as Vice President of Service Line Innovation. Prior to USPI, Jeannie managed physician practices including office-based, Medicare-certified surgery centers. Because of her experience in both the private practice and ASC environments, Jeannie has a clear understanding of the operational and clinical challenges that face both entities. As a nurse, she is a passionate patient advocate and approaches program development from a patient- and family-centric perspective. Currently, Jeannie continues her work with the Joint Replacement Program and new Spine Program.
Vice President, Practice Operations
Judy joined USPI in 1999 bringing many years of experience and value to USPI and physician partnerships for quality care . That experience spans several settings, including the private practice, acute care hospital systems, and large central billing operations. Judy’s expertise in physician practice management make her a key member in strategic planning sessions, new practice development, and practice merger projects. Judy also supports USPI’s BPCI practices in the development and implementation of administrative and clinical best practices, process improvements, and staffing changes to support value-based payments. Judy is happily married with three children and enjoys spending her free time in Atlanta with her family.
Vice President, Business Development
Paula develops Cardiovascular Services in outpatient environments and has worked at USPI for seven years. Her role in the Physician Strategy Group includes establishing positive physician relationships, cardiovascular program design, and local implementation and support for optimal clinical outcomes for the patient. With 25 years of experience in healthcare, Paula has held roles at HCA, Tenet, and Alliance Imaging that have included strategic and financial development, turnkey operational implementation and start-up, P&L responsibility for ongoing operations, payor contracting, and sales/marketing to ensure strong performance. She has worked in the facility and corporate environments, which brings a well-rounded perspective to any situation. She is a member of the American College of Healthcare Executives and has an MBA as well as a post-graduate certification in Asian Business Studies. Paula and her husband have two children, one dog, and two cats.
Vice President of Business Development
Billy has been with United Surgical Partners International for over 10 years, his most recent role serving as Vice President of Business Development for Service Line Strategy Group, focusing on musculoskeletal program development across the USPI enterprise. He comes to USPI with an extensive 28 year healthcare background, having previously worked for Johnson and Johnson and Smith and Nephew Orthopedics. Billy is a graduate of Vanderbilt University where he was a three-year Letterman and active in many university organizations and societies.
Senior Director of Marketing and Engagement
Susan is Board-Certified through the American College of Healthcare Executives and brings more than two decades of experience and progressive leadership to USPI. Educated in Advertising, her experience includes large acute care health systems, physician private practice, and contract management. Susan understands the business of healthcare and approaches her work with strategic vision, compassion and, a sincere desire to serve her community, while applying traditional tactics with digital technologies that create value and results. Susan has also been recognized as a Top Female Executive by Addison Magazine.
Deb is a registered nurse who received her Bachelors of Science from Texas Women’s University. As a registered nurse with over 20 years of experience in surgery center management, Deb is confident in her ability to direct activities for the feasibility and implementation of innovative programs. Throughout her career, Deb worked closely with surgeons and their staff to optimize patient selection and patient care. She is passionate about the role of the perioperative nurse and other team members involved with the patient experience. In addition to providing quality, standardized care and measurable outcomes in the ASC, she understands that pre-operative education, post-operative follow-up, and setting realistic expectations are key to exceptional outcomes for the patient. Deb looks forward to using her management expertise and experiences as an OR nurse to enhance USPI’s new service lines.
Director of Service Line Implementation
Tami is a Registered Nurse with over 25 years of clinical and operational experience. She joined USPI in 2000 as an ASC Administrator before transitioning into a RVP role with the company, and she looks forward to using her experience to help the facilities expand their clinical programs, while keeping the focus on the patient. She understands the clinical and operational demands the facility teams are tasked with and has a sincere desire to help the facilities achieve positive outcomes and an exceptional patient experience.
Director, Digital Strategies and Web Development
Erin is an award-winning copywriter and engagement strategist. She graduated with Honors from the University of North Dakota and spent several years developing her community engagement skills in broadcast television. A highly strategic and creative person, Erin approaches every engagement opportunity with insight and perspective, aligning solutions and dependable efforts with innovative program development. She understands the consumer drive behind the healthcare industry, viewing patient-provider interaction through a lens that will help facilities and physicians explore and evaluate program leadership opportunities, develop strong partnerships with facilities, and drive quality healthcare to their patients. Erin is happily married with two young sons.
Director of Operations
Grace has served as the Operations Analyst for the OrthoLink Physician Strategy Group since January 2014. She works with orthopaedic practices and physicians to improve overall operations and strive for best practices through analytical and operational assessments. Grace works directly with the physicians and case managers currently engaged in the Medicare BPCI program to pursue best practices, align with strategic post-acute care partners, and build relationships with local hospitals. Grace has a Masters of Health Administration and a Masters of Business Administration from Georgia State University.
Director of Recruiting
Jaime has over 5 years of physician recruiting experience and has worked closely with private practices and hospitals across the country to meet their recruitment demands. Since 2014, she has created solutions for physician hiring and compensation needs. Jaime brings knowledge and experience in physician contracting, compensation models, and both provider- and executive-level recruitment. Prior to joining PSG, she worked in recruiting and business development. Jaime holds a bachelor’s degree in Biology from Austin College and is a 2019 MBA Candidate at SMU’s Cox School of Business.
Joint & Spine Program Manager
Carol is a registered nurse with fine-tuned skills and experience in the development and implementation of USPI’s Total Joint programs. Carol joined the Service Line Strategy Group in 2014 after an impressive tenure as a post-anesthesia care unit nurse and orthopedic coordinator. She worked directly in our core business, Baylor Orthopedic and Spine Hospital, where she was a joint educator and PACU staff nurse. Carol’s expertise is in orthopedic care and recovery, which has allowed her to lead the charge as Service Line Strategy Group develops and implements the same-day joint and spine programs in our ambulatory surgical facilities and hospitals. Carol enjoys the challenge of ensuring compliance with The Joint Commission standards and developing the metrics for quality, measurable care.
John comes to Service Line Strategy Group with over 25 years of nursing experience. He received his Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Texas Woman’s University, where he discovered his love for healthcare and delivering quality care to the community. The love of helping others in need is what drove John into the United States Air Force where he served until 2011, when he retired as Lieutenant Colonel. In the USAF, he felt his greatest honor was bringing wounded soldiers back home. John has worked in numerous quality- and risk-management roles throughout Texas, with his latest endeavor serving the USPI-affiliated Dallas/Fort Worth area Baylor Scott & White Health System. John brings compassion, medical and clinical knowledge, and an eye for quality to the Service Line Strategy Group. He looks forward to building relationships with the USPI surgery centers and network physicians to bring a higher standard of care to the communities and patients. John lives in the Dallas area with his wonderful wife, dog, and cat. Luckily for him, his five children are grown, successful, and on their own.
Joan comes to SLSG with over 10 years of healthcare industry experience, including billing services, physician office management, and corporate physician management. Joan is the Administrative Manager for SLSG, a role which utilizes her background and skills to the fullest. With a BS in Marketing from the University of Houston, Joan spent her early career in advertising agencies and corporate marketing. She went on to get her MOM (two children, that is) and rejoined the workforce in an administrative capacity. During her six years with a women’s health clinic, she became a Certified Medical Office Manager and came to appreciate the complexity, diversity, and challenges of growing a medical practice. One of her greatest accomplishments while with the clinic was partnering with the physician to open a medical aesthetic center. She considers that business one of her children. When not in the PSG office, she values the time with her husband and daughters and enjoys Mah Jongg and Bunco.
